After nearly eight successful years running a Bed & Breakfast with a living room restaurant in Friesland, we always said to each other, "On our fiftieth birthday, we're going abroad." Now, after years of dreaming of a life beyond the borders of the Netherlands and running a charming guesthouse, B&B, or boutique hotel, it seems our first steps towards this dream are finally being taken seriously.

Although Austria was initially considered the intended destination, we shifted our course to a place further south. After seeking the sun for over 5 years in November on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria and this past early spring of 2022 in Crete, we discovered that we thrive in a warm and sunny climate. The love we have developed for Gran Canaria, with its beautiful nature, the Spanish "tranquilidad," sandy beaches, swaying palm trees, flavorful Spanish cuisine, and pleasant climate, has broadened our horizons.

We sought a place where we could experience that same feeling as on Gran Canaria but also wanted to enjoy the rugged beauty of the Alps and potentially make winter sports possible in the winter months. A place that was also easily and affordably accessible. We soon settled on Andalusia and decided in October 2022 to shape the search, the exploration of our future.

And now, in 2024, the time has finally come: we are opening the doors of our beautiful FINCA FLAMENCO. This is the place where a holiday is really a holiday.
